To Square Our Actions, From Darkness to Light!

A Reflection of an Entered Apprentice Mason.

To square our actions is to live in alignment with the unseen laws that govern both nature and spirit. It is to walk with awareness, knowing that every breath, every heartbeat, every molecule within and around us vibrates with divine purpose. All of creation sings a silent hymn, a vibration of order and harmony, and when we align ourselves with that frequency, we become one with the Great Architect’s design.

As above, so below.

As within, so without.

As the soul, so the universe.

Every element, every star, every grain of dust moves together in the same grand symphony of creation. To square our actions, then is to tune ourselves to that harmony, to act with integrity even when unseen, to speak with care even when unheard, and to love even when it feels undeserving. For moral integrity is not a badge we wear, but a current that flows through us when we are rightly aligned.

When I was brought from darkness to light, I came to realize that Masonry is not a matter of words, but of being. In darkness, I could not see the path, I could only trust the hand that guided me. In light, I began to understand that trust was the first step toward illumination, and that the work of the Mason begins not with sight, but with awareness. The light we are given is not ours to keep, it is ours to become. To live in light is to act with purpose, to allow our deeds to speak where words may fall silent. Each act of kindness, each moment of patience, each time we temper judgment with compassion, we are squaring the lodge within ourselves, shaping our inner temple in sacred alignment.

With each breath and interaction, I ask myself?

Was I square in my action?

Did I uphold myself upon the level?

Am I plumb in my intentions?

Did I uphold the perfect points in my entrance into this moment?

For the perfect points of our entrance are not bound to a single time or place, they are living principles, guiding every step, every encounter, every breath. In each meeting of eyes, each silent nod, each handshake of sincerity, we re-enter that sacred passage from darkness to light once again.

And as I labor in that light, I understand this truth, It is not enough to possess the light, we must embody it. To honor the Craft not through proclamation, but through the quiet radiance of character and the steady building of virtue. Through balance and harmony, we learn, and through learning, we teach. Through love, we serve, and through service, we illuminate. For it is in camaraderie, in brotherly love, and in shared purpose, that we come together as many stones shaped into one Temple.

To my Brothers, my family, my community, in token of love and respect, I will labor to spread that light, so that the world itself may become a brighter Lodge, a living reflection of the divine order and beauty that flows through all things. For this is the true foundation of the inner temple, to square our actions in every moment of life, and through that labor, to raise its walls within our souls, until one day, the light we kindle touches every corner of the world.
